On June 14-15, Meopta held a forum on Product and Process Innovation at its newly upgraded R&D facility in Prerov. Meopta - optika, s.r.o. was awarded second place in the 10th Annual Investor of the Year competition in the category of “Greatest Innovation Potential”. Meopta has passed the concept of having a community responsible company. The Green Company project is a project that helps to solve collection and treatment of WEEE straight in companies combining environmental protection and a support of employees. The project is realizated with help of company REMA.

In December 2009, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic authorized an OPPI grant to Meopta – optika, s.r.o. for the “Meopta Research and Development Modernization” project. As part of the project, Meopta will reconstruct its R&D facility and will purchase additional machines and equipment to further expand Meopta’s extensive R&D capabilities.

On May 7th Mr. Paul Rausnitz laid flowers at the base of the Mother Country monument which stands in the front lawn of Meopta. The monument is dedicated to those Meopta employees who lost their lives through execution or martyrdom during World War II. Paul Rausnitz along with his family (mother, father and two brothers) fought for their country and lives during World War II. The Rausnitz family served in the Czechoslovak Army under the command of Gen. Ludvík Svoboda.
